Color Changing Leopard

Happy Monday!  Don't you just cringe reading that?  I cringe typing it!!

I've been eyeballing some really pretty polish at Winners the last couple of times I went in and I couldn't justify the $7.99 price tag so always put them back.  Last week I was lucky enough to find them on sale for $5 - score!!  The brand is Butterfly Wing, something I've never heard of and it's color changing polish - not really my thing, but the color and the price sold me.

Here's a bottle shot, I really couldn't capture how bright yellow the orange-y color is on camera and the pink-y red is more coral than pink, but IRL they are really lovely and bright.  You can't really tell from any of the photos, but the yellow was iridescent - something I don't normally go for, but it didn't bug me that much in this polish.  What did bug me was the formula - it was runny and streaky and one of the brushes had a huge chunk out of it, which made application even more difficult.  I had to wear the yellow with white undies and it still took 3 or 4 coats to make the yellow not look streaky.

I'm so glad I didn't pay full price for these; however, I wouldn't buy this brand again.  I would rather continue my search for the perfect yellow than struggle with application!!  Have you tried this branch or another type of color changing polish?  How was the formula?

Flashback!

Hiya folks!!  I'm on the mend from my cold, still feeling stuffy, but I went to work today, so all is good!  I'm pulling this mani from the vault, even though I should be posting some Nail-aween challenge mani's - I'm having brain block on something creative to do for spiders - any suggestions?!?!

This is a recycled mani - I wore the gradient first and then decided to stamp it when I got home and I think I mattified it - it looks mattified, don't you think?  This was also when my nails were so pretty and long - I miss them!!

Base Coat:  Orly Bonder
Gradient:  Finger Paints - Pink Perspective and I think Tangerine Tint
For the stamp, I used Sally Hansen Insta Dry - Quick Canary

Water Mar-BOO-led the Sequel

Hey everyone!!  How's your fall going so far?  Here, it's wet, windy and gray, it makes taking decent photos next to impossible.  Now would be the perfect time to build that light box I bought all the material for months ago!!

We're onto water marble day for the 31 Day Challenge - ugh, hate water marbling, I always make the biggest mess and for the life of me can't get my finger where the best part of the pattern is - I can make the pattern, get it where I want it, dip my finger in and.....voila, a big splotch of not the pattern I wanted - really, I mastered the circle goes into a round hole etc. as a child, you would think I'd get this.  Oh well, I'm still going to show you all two of my tries, I would have gone for a third, but the day is ending and I wanted to get this up.

Ooooo and on a side note. I participated in my very first Nail Polish Secret Santa - everyone got assigned a name via Elfster - the lovely Amanda from The Nail Polish Enthusiast organized the Halloween/Autumn themed exchange.  The limit was $20 and you had to shop for your secret santa - Elfster makes it easy to create a wishlist or a don't need list for the person that drew your name and ask questions about the name you drew without giving away your identity - so cool!!  Anyways, I got my package last night from Amanda who drew my name and I was literally squeeing with excitement, the hubby was looking at me like I was crazy - lol!!  I got some lovely polishes and the best part the set of MASH nail art brushes - which are SOOOO cool, I can't wait to try them!!  I also got a mini bottle of my FIRST indie (Gini, you would be proud) - here it is over some yummy orange OPI polish that I got!!

Of course the photos don't do the glitter justice, but you'll just have to buy your own Harley by Hit Polish click the link if you want to see much better photos!!  Beautiful orange, black and silver hex glitters and smaller black glitter - ab fab!  I decided to recycle this mani I wore today and water marble over the orange - I also accidentally (how I did this, I don't know) marbled over the glitter so I quickly took the marble off repainted a coat of the OPI orange and did one coat of Harley  - a jelly sandwich of sorts....the pic above has two coats of Harely (which is amazing to apply by the way!).

I used cheapy NYC nail polish for the water marble in black, orange and white.  Pro FX was the top coat.

Now for the attempt I did yesterday, I wanted it to be neon yellow and pink, but it turned out orange so I ended up putting a coat of the neon yellow over top of it all because there was so many white spots.  I will master this one day, just need to practice practice practice.

Side Note:  I've been having issues with my computer at home and just started a new job so if you haven't seen me commenting like I normally do, I haven't stopped looking at all your amazing work, I just haven't been commenting as much because it's next to impossible on my phone!!  Bear with me while I adjust, I'll be back to my regular commenting self soon!!

Don't forget to check out the other lovelies doing the 31 Day Challenge - I think we've got most with us still!!

If you want to win some amazing stuff, click here.  Is this getting annoying?  Should I end my giveaway now instead?  or should I just hold out until the 31st?  I feel like it's going on forever, I should have made it last two weeks instead of a month......

Water Mar-BOO-led

Hiya, tis' the season for all things Halloween!  My lovely friend, Gini over at Sassy Paints, heralded my call for another challenge and introduced me to the Nail-Aween Nail Art Challenge hosted by datyorkLOVES... I could not, not join up!!  My trusty challenge calendar is getting filled up for October and I couldn't be more excited!!

Up first is water marble - not my favorite technique - it looks gorgeous when other people do it - I've just had little to no success pulling it off - okay so I've only tried once, but still....  I chose Halloween-y colors for this, hope you like my somewhat successful water marble!

Favorite Food - Orange

No, my favorite food is not oranges!  Did I fool ya?  Did I?  Did I?

Enough of the silliness, let's get down to business!  Who's the bright star who joined TWO consecutive challenges?  This girl and I'm not a super star Queen of Challenges like Miss Nicole over at The Color Republic who I think is juggling three challenges? Crazy challenge lady - LOL :)

We're on Day 3 of Ooh La La Polish's My Favorite Things Challenge and Day 2 of Kimber at Kimber's Lacquer Korner 31 Day Challenge.  The trick is to combine My Favorite Food with the color Orange....or do two mani's in one night - tried that last night, with very little success (total disasticure - thanks Nicole at Polish Me Please for the nail lingo!!).  I hope I pulled off two challenge entries with one look!!  If not, oh flippn' well - have you heard about my week so far?

Sushi Nail Art Orange on Nude Gradient

Sushi Nail Art Orange on Nude Gradient

I got my inspiration from these are coasters I made awhile back for a Craft Fair I participated in at work.  These are canvas squares I sewed and then painted with acrylic paint.  Once I added the sealant, I used fabric glue to glue black felt on the back.  I didn't actually sell this set, so I gave it to cousin (who is my sushi buddy) for Christmas.

Base Coat:  Orly Bonder
Main Color:  Revlon - Elegant
Accent Color:  NYC - Some no name Orange
I used acrylic paint for the sushi
Top Coat:  Seche Vite

Please don't forget to scroll all the way down and click on the links to check out the lovely ladies that are participating in both the 31 Day Challenge and My Favorite Things Nail Art Challenge - so much talent, it's amazing!!

Orange you Glad I'm Posting Today?

Hello life, I have to polish my nails and post about them, could you kindly get out of the way?  Life has certainly been getting in the way of my posting lately, either I get home so late from life that I can't get good outside shots or it takes me forever to do my nails and can't get a decent outside shot - really doesn't life know I have people waiting with baited breath for my next post??

Today, I have two mani's to share with you, first is today's mani!   Have you heard I'm into neon's right now?  I've done two posts in the last week on them (Knee Yawn Pink and Skulltastic) - I'm smitten!  I'm also really digging the tone on tone (Pretty in White and Mellow Canary), here's today's version of a neon tone on tone!!

Neon Orange Polka Dots Tone on Tone Manicure

Here's my right hand outside, I don't normally post photos of my right hand unless I've done something really cool, but last night I fell asleep on the couch watching the Olympics and messed up my left hand!

Next is Thursday's mani, which I didn't really like, I thought I had gold square nail stickers, but didn't, so the whole look didn't come together.  Plus when I went to take the shot yesterday, my nails had already chipped - so enjoy the one shot I did manage to get!

- Single Dot Manicure by Polished Indulgence (this one wasn't really named, so I made it up, but follow the link and it will take you there!

And my absolute FAVE is.....

- American Apparel - Neon Yellow by pshiiit.com

Enjoy - are you sporting the neon nude polish?  Would you?
