M is for M•A•S•H Nail Art Pens Review

Hiya friends!  Today, another M•A•S•H product to review for you - M•A•S•H nail art pens!  I'm so glad I saved this for the ABC Challenge M day, I've been pretty uninspired lately so this is perfect!  Disclosure:  this product was given to me to review, all opinions are my own and are in no way shape or form influenced by anyone else.

I have to admit, I was having a hard time coming up with something to do with the M•A•S•H nail art pens.  I did use the black for my Jewsie Nails inspired mani, but I really wanted to do something a little more detailed to test out these bad boys.

I love doing fiddly little (as in small) art and painting my nails fills that love.  But, I'm also super duper anal and I need things to be perfect, lines straight, same width, everything must be perfect!  I found these pens a little hard to get things perfect, which was a bit of a bummer.  They are great for abstract shapes, like leopard print, especially because with leopard you can get away with making dots with the pen instead of straight lines.  It took a little bit to get these babies flowing - you have to shake it up super duper hard and have a little bit of patience (something I lack).  If you do pick up one of these, I must warn you about one thing - please, please, shake the pen with the lid ON - not off, like I did!!  Luckily, like the other polish pen I own, this stuff came off my skin with no problems - a major plus with a face full of polish!

The color I had the most trouble with, was the silver - I almost threw it out the dang window because I couldn't get it to work for the life of me.  Could it be a faulty pen?  Possibly.  Could it be user error?  Maybe.  My favorite by far, was the pink - the beautiful salmony pink, which of course couldn't be captured by my camera, is so so pretty and it was also the pen that worked the best for me.  It had an even flow but you did have to go over the lines a bit to get the color opaque, but it was definitely my favorite of the bunch! If you are a beginner with nail art, I think these would work for you, especially if you`re not anal like me!  If you like to have a little more control over the nail art you do, I would stick with a paint brush - by the way my best set of brushes happen to have come from M•A•S•H - there`s a really good short thin brush that`s perfect for nail art.  Disclosure:  this product was given to me to review, all opinions are my own and are in no way shape or form influenced by anyone else.

I also used my M•A•S•H matte top coat to mattify these babies, you can find my review of that here.  Ooo and I just checked it`s still on sale for $3.99 down from $7.99 - good deal peeps!  Disclosure:  this product was given to me to review, all opinions are my own and are in no way shape or form influenced by anyone else.

You can purchase the pens individually for $5.99 or save a little moola and get 25% off a set of 6 available on the M•A•S•H website www.mashnails.com!

M•A•S•H Matte Review

Happy Monday polished friends!!  Today, I have another M•A•S•H product to review for you - Matte Top Coat.  If ya'll know me, you know I'm a sucker for anything mattified, so I was super excited to open my M•A•S•H package and find a bottle of Matte Top Coat.  I swear, I've been using this stuff on every mani I've done since I've gotten it - I love the Matte.

I've been wanting to try water painted nails for a while now and I'm so glad I finally did.  I really love how these turned out and I love it even more mattified!  The main difference I noticed about the M•A•S•H matte top coat was the dry time - with my NYC matte top coat, it seems I wait longer for it to dry and that leads to dents and marks.  I didn't get that with this, I even crocheted right after applying and there was no dents, no marks, no nothing - I was pretty impressed.  Another issue with my cheapy NYC matte top coat is that it gets super thick and icky half way through the bottle, so far so good with this stuff and I've used it alot - not half way, but alot and no thickness and ickiness - major score!

Enviously Green

Happy Friday friends!

So glad it's Friday, I've had a full week this week, and after coming back from two weeks vacation it's hard to put in a full week.  I work an extra 47 minutes each day so that I can take every second Friday off - it's called flex time and I swear, it's my sanity!  Although sometimes my four day weeks feel longer than my five day ones.

Last week I went to Sally Beauty because they were having a bogo on Orly and I wanted to pick up some wishlist items for my pal Gini of Sassy Paints.  One of her wishlist items that I managed to find (damn you Miss Conduct, which I keep calling Miss Conception....) was Green With Envy.  Side note:  when I'm in front of a beautiful display of 100's of polishes, I find it very hard to pick out what I like - crazy I know.  Anyhoodle, after much hemming and hawing, I decided to pick up a Green With Envy for myself.  You may remember that I'm not a huge fan of green, but Green with Envy leans toward teal, so I thought I would give it a go.  Ya, it's more green, and ya, I'm not a fan of green.  I just think it looks horrible on me and I can never think of any nail art to do besides four leaf clovers and Frankenstein - not very appropriate for everyday wear!  So lesson learned, pick stuff I like and stop letting Gini influence me - LOL - kidding, she got me hooked on Sally Hansen Pacific Blue and it's become one of my fave colors!  Plus she's been trying her darndest to get me hooked on indies - not gonna happen girl, my nails are nubbins, won't look good, I promise!

Matte Green Polka Dots Nail Art

It was hard to capture the glossy polka dots on the matte nails, so I had to try a couple of different angles.

Sad little nubbins, GROW, I beg you!

A is for Acrylic Awesomeness

Hiya!  Welcome to day one of the ABC Challenge, hosted by ma girl Kimber over at Kimber's Lacquer Korner!!  So excited to be joining some of the same ladies who did the 31 Day Challenge and meeting new blogger buddies for this amazingly awesome challenge - see what I did there - threw in some extra A's for "A" day!

I did this mani before I knew about the challenge and I didn't have time to find a polish that starts with an "A" so I choose to spotlight the acrylic paint I used.  I love using acrylic paint for nail art, you can mix colors easily and literally make hundreds of different colors and shades using only a handful of colors.  Plus it's super cheap, you can pick it at the dollar store and the selection is fabulous.  Acrylic paint dries matte, so a good top coat is a must-have, but for this mani, I mattified the base so I didn't need a further top coat - bonus!  This also reminds me a little of art deco - another "A"!!!

Golden Nude

Happy Monday polished friends!

I can't believe Christmas is only a little over a week away! I'm so unprepared this year - we've picked up a couple of gifts, but we have so much more to do and next weekend will be a total write-off.  I have two potlucks to go to and cooking in my house is always an ordeal - at least both dishes I'm making are fairly foolproof, so I should have no issues - fingers crossed!

Nude with Gold Matte

Nude with Gold Matte

I've been seeing gold and nude everywhere lately and I love love love it.  I wish I had done this as a gradient, the gold glitter is a little overpowering in my opinion, but I'm still pretty happy with how this turned out.  I ended up adding a matte top coat and my friend at work asked "what's wrong with your nails?"  Not something a nail blogger wants to hear about their mani - I make myself feel better by thinking she doesn't know anything about style - lol!!

Base Coat:  Orly Bonder
Main Color:  Becca, recognize the color?  Why yes, it is my Essie Yogaga - soooo pretty!!!
I used the saran wrap method with Sally Hansen's Golden I and then layered the best gold glitter from Sally's over top.
Top Coat:  NYC - Matte Me Crazy

Count Dot-cula

Hellooooooooo - that's my spooky greeting...Welcome to my second post for datyorkLOVES Nail-Aween Nail Art Challenge - a matte dotticure!!

I love any polish that's been mattified, it makes everything look so amazing, especially glitters - so cool.  I wanted to do something simple, but that had impact and what's more simple than a straight up black mani?!? Hope you enjoy!!

Orange you Glad I'm Posting Today?

Hello life, I have to polish my nails and post about them, could you kindly get out of the way?  Life has certainly been getting in the way of my posting lately, either I get home so late from life that I can't get good outside shots or it takes me forever to do my nails and can't get a decent outside shot - really doesn't life know I have people waiting with baited breath for my next post??

Today, I have two mani's to share with you, first is today's mani!   Have you heard I'm into neon's right now?  I've done two posts in the last week on them (Knee Yawn Pink and Skulltastic) - I'm smitten!  I'm also really digging the tone on tone (Pretty in White and Mellow Canary), here's today's version of a neon tone on tone!!

Neon Orange Polka Dots Tone on Tone Manicure

Here's my right hand outside, I don't normally post photos of my right hand unless I've done something really cool, but last night I fell asleep on the couch watching the Olympics and messed up my left hand!

Next is Thursday's mani, which I didn't really like, I thought I had gold square nail stickers, but didn't, so the whole look didn't come together.  Plus when I went to take the shot yesterday, my nails had already chipped - so enjoy the one shot I did manage to get!

Today's Mani:

True Love's Hair

Black is the color of my true love's hair...not a super fan of this one, but I've got to work tomorrow, so no redo tonight.  I love the look of matte over glitter and holo, but wanted to switch it up with doing a modified matte french manicure.  I used tape to make the straight edge.  I was inspired by Chloe's Nails and her tape tutorials, which are pretty great, check it out!

Base Coat:  Orly - Bonder
Main Color:  Wet n Wild - Black Creme and Maybelline - Twilight Rays
